Calculation Case
Requirement: Standard 19-inch 1U chassis. Chassis WidthHeightDepth: 442mm * 43.6mm * 400mm. Motherboard size: 410mm (width) × 220mm (depth). Heat dissipation: 100W. Two power modules totaling 15W. The system's heat load is relatively dispersed and uniform, with no concentrated hotspots. Fan supply voltage: 12V.

Calculating Airflow

  • Total System Heat Dissipation: Q = 100W + 15W = 115W
  • Using empirical formula: V = 1.76 × Q / ΔT, ΔT taken as 10°C (conventional range 8~15°C)
  • Total System Airflow: V = 1.76 × 115 / 10 = 20.24 CFM

Fan Selection

  • Size: Based on the layout dimensions of the chassis motherboard and power supply, determine the use of five 40*40*10mm fans.
  • Airflow: Based on the total system airflow of 20.24 CFM, the required airflow per fan is 4.048 CFM. For system design, set the fan operating point at the 1/2 to 2/3 point of the airflow curve.
  • Voltage: 12V According to the fan selection manual, select the specific fan model: AD0412UB-G70(T) or other fan models with similar airflow and static pressure.
